Happy Friday, everyone! Jo here. I'm excited to announce the release of the Young Adult Fantasy novel Renaria - Into the Adyton by J. L. Wilson. I was the editor for this novel, and Karen Robinson provided the proofread. Without further ado, I give you the information on the book, followed by an IBGW giveaway, then an author event where she'll be giving things away to celebrate the release. Let's go!

Title: Renaria - Into the Adyton
Author: J. L. Wilson
Genre: YA Fantasy
Length: Around 250 pages
Buy Link: Amazon Kindle $2.99

Synopsis:
A small memento, a universal power...

It’s the year 2126, post-World War V. Leda, age seventeen, bounds through the lush forested region of the Desintor Foothills as a regal, bow-wielding, High-Elf Scout. That is, when she’s logged into her favorite MMO game: Renaria.

One crisp fall afternoon, an unseasonal storm fractures the sky of Trinton, New Texas with splinters of emerald lightning and otherworldly songs. Oddly, no one sees the storm except her brother and their guild mate Travis.

She brushes off the event as a fluke, but she can’t seem to get the song out of her mind. Suddenly, a new quest appears in her game directing her to the blue sand dunes of the Sinare Desert to meet Caleb, a legendary Elf Diviner.

Now she has a choice: Ignore the quest and turn off the game, or dive in and risk everything for a shot at an adventure.

New Release Giveaway - A Call to Arms

Howdy! Karen here with another IBGW book giveaway. I'm thrilled to announce the release of A Call to Arms: Book One of the Chronicles of Arden by Shiriluna Nott and SaJa H. I did the line editing on this book, and Jennifer did the proofreading.

While I was working on this book, I had to stop myself multiple times and remember that I was supposed to be editing the book--I got so caught up in the story that I forgot I had a job to do! This fantasy novel has a strong cast of characters who immediately come to life on the page with their individual personalities. The main character, Gib, is someone the audience can relate to--the fish out of water who is thrust into a new life he never expected, and we see the ways in which he deals with his new role, including a budding romance. But enough gushing from me. Here's more specific information about the book as well as info about the giveaway.

Title: A Call to Arms: Book One of the Chronicles of Arden
Authors: Shiriluna Nott and SaJa H.
Genre: Epic fantasy; LGBT fiction
Length: 313 pages
Buy Link: Amazon

Synopsis:
From Amazon: War is brewing on the eastern border of Arden. The shaky truce between Arden and the neighboring realm of Shiraz has all but dissolved, and both sides are building their forces for battle. But in the quiet farming community of Willowdale, the rumors of war are the least of young Gibben Nemesio’s concerns. With both parents dead and two younger brothers to care for, Gib doesn't have time to focus on anything besides keeping food on the table. Everything changes the day he receives a conscription notice and must report to Arden’s capital.

In Silver City, Gib is forced to leave his life as a farmer behind when he enters the legendary Academy of Arden as a sentinel trainee. If called to war, he will have no choice but to go, for the Sentinels of Arden are the realm's first line of defense against the evils beyond the border.

A newcomer to this breathtaking city of stone, Gibben finds himself thrown into a world of cutthroat politics and scandals that run deeper than he ever imagined. Caught between the responsibilities to his family and to his country, Gib struggles to find balance. When he unwittingly overhears a sinister plot--that if seen to fruition will bear dire consequences for all of Arden--the young sentinel trainee must find a way to warn those in power before it is too late.

Two Kindle eBook copies of the book are up for grabs (two separate winners). Here's the giveaway entry form! a Rafflecopter giveaway

Hello and happy Friday! Eliza here, and I'm thrilled to share another IBGW-edited book with you! I did the line editing, and Tia did the proofreading on this book. He unwittingly becomes embroiled in a biotechnological nightmare and embarks on a dangerous adventure to return home. New Release Giveaway - Believing Magic series

Howdy! Karen here. I'm so excited to announce the release of the first five books in the Believing Magic series by Shane Shelton, with a giveaway for ebook copies below! I worked with Shane on these books as the first round editor.

What impressed me the most about Shane's writing is that he has a good sense of the flow of the book. He's handling a pretty big cast of characters with many different locations and events going on at the same time. And not only does he handle it, but he knows just when to stop a chapter for one event and move to another event/set of characters. He also does a great job intertwining the various characters and story arcs.

Some information about the books:

Titles: Believing Magic, Kingdom Come, Sacrifice, Garden of Wrath, All Around the Throne
Author: Shane Shelton
Genre: Dark fantasy
Lengths: 644 pages, 420 pages, 446 pages, 430 pages, and 115 pages, respectively
Buy Links: Amazon Kindle $2.99-$3.99 (Book 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5)

Synopsis (for the first book):
From Amazon: Having never been a recreational reader, Jane Miller is not sure what to think as strange events from the book she’s reading begin to mirror into her everyday life in odd ways. She’s been told to report any unusual "side effects" she experiences while in the drug study, but is "book deja-vu" a side effect, or is it something that’s totally normal when you're really into a good book?

Added by Karen: Jane is just the first of the characters involved in this drug study that you'll meet in the first book of the series. These teenagers think that they have been selected to be part of a study for a new drug that will clear up their acne. And the drug does do that, but not in the way that they think. What they don't know is that the drug is intended to do so much more.

The other teens in the drug study include Rain and her twin brother Ryan. Rain has had a really horrible year due to something that happened prior to the start of the book. She has taken to wearing black and withdrawing from her family and friends except for a close circle of three other females. Ryan is her good-natured brother who doesn't know what is going on with Rain but does know that the girl he sees in the waiting room (Jane) is cute. But Jane's attention is drawn to Dan, who is unable to speak and communicates through writing notes. Dan is mysterious, which leads Jane to compare him to the male lead in the book she is reading. Rounding out the main cast is Sky, whose overbearing mother forces her to be untrue to herself, but once she takes the new drug, she is able to stand up to her mother and do what she's always wanted to do--fly.

Believing Magic is modern dark fantasy.

CONTENT ADVISORY: Contains violence, language, various adult themes and situations throughout. This book is not erotica. It's ideal reading for those who enjoy modern YA fantasy--but without the training wheels.

You can visit Shane's website for more information including updates about upcoming books, such as Devil's Tithe, the final book in this series.

Here's the entry form. Good luck!

Happy Monday, everyone! Jo here. I ran across a great article this weekend over on the Small Blue Dog Publishing blog I'd like to share with you all. It's something we all need to read and take into consideration when looking for an editor. Grab your coffee, laptop, and comfy chair and let's get going.

Why are Book Editors so Expensive?
by Belinda Pollard

I’m going to let you in on a secret.

Book editors are expensive.

Ooh, are you shocked? “But aren’t you One Of Them??” I hear you say.

Yes I am. But I’m also a writer. And very soon I’m going to have to hire an editor for one of my own projects, out of my own personal piggybank. And I’m dreading it.

So, why? Why are editors so darn expensive???

Well, sit right down and I’ll tell you a story…

Read the rest of the article here.

Be sure you share, too! A book editor is never a waste.

Well, that's all for today, folks! Until next time, WRITE ON!
